As we finish up another school year and move into summer, I can’t help but reflect on the many blessings I’ve received and how grateful I am to have the gospel in my life to help guide me down the covenant path.
This past conference was so inspiring, as it always is, with such wonderful messages that we can learn from and help us to grow closer to our Heavenly Father and Savior. I loved hearing the reiteration of President Nelson’s talk in our last General Conference from various General Authorities entitled “Think Celestial.” I’d like to focus my thoughts on this talk because it truly helps us to focus on the things that matter most.
President Nelson stated, “ I have learned that Heavenly Father’s plan for us is fabulous, that what we do in this life really matters, and that the Savior’s Atonement is what makes our Father’s plan possible…” He continued by saying, “Here is the great news of God’s plan: the very things that will make your mortal life the best it can be are exactly the same things that will make your life throughout all eternity the best it can be!” Isn’t it a blessing to know that we have the gospel that gives us direction and offers us the ability to have the best life we can have here on earth to prepare us to have the best life we can have throughout the eternities?
President Nelson continued by saying, “I invite you to adopt the practice of thinking celestial. Thinking celestial means being spiritually minded…” He then said: “When you are confronted with a dilemma, think celestial. When tested by temptation, think celestial. When life or loved ones let you down, think celestial…When the pressures of life crowd in upon you, think celestial…”
I love that we have the ability to choose to think celestial, as President Nelson stated, and allow our “hearts to gradually change” so that we will have the desire to do more things that will help us to grow closer to our Savior.
-Bishop Craig Lewis
And he commanded them that there should be
no contention one with another,
but that they should look forward with one eye,
having one faith and one baptism,
having their hearts knit together
in unity and in love one towards another.
